This was the game we all knew was coming.  You just knew the Cards' bats wouldn't stay quiet forever.  Coming in, I said taking one would be a victory, and the Bucs were able to do that in pretty dramatic fashion. I almost want to say it was on and a half because of the way they played in the first game.

The game was over by the 4th inning, not much else to say.  It's only one game, and it was against the best team in the league.

2-run comeback fell way short in the 9th.

GAME.

Miscellaneous shit

No multi-hits for any one 8 Buccos had 1 hit each.

First bad start for Paul Maholm.  He went only 3.3 innings and allowed 6 hits, 6 runs (4 earned), and walked 3 with only 2 Ks.  Up to this point he had been the Bucs' most consistent starter.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Brian Bass back down in AAA, now that Karstens has apparently been given a spot in the bullpen.  The rest of the bullpen (Carrasco, Taschner, Lopez) was excellent as usual in this game, allowing 1 combined hit and 1 combined walk.
