Recap: Explosion at Mile High. BUCS WIN.

team-spacer 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 inning-spacer R H E LOB

Rockies 0 0 1 1 0 2 0 0 0 score-spacer 4 9 0 9

I was unable to watch this game as I mentioned in the preview, but it's great to win another road series (the Pirates are 4 for 5 on the year, equaling the number of series win they had on the road last year in April alone). The bats came back in this game, and the final score reflects it. 5 players had 2 hits for the Pirates: Cutch, Xavier Paul, Garrett Jones, Lyle Overbay, and Pedro Alvarez (!). Garrett Jones had a double and Xavier Paul had a triple. On the minus side, the Pirates struck out 11 times, and Charlie Morton's electric stuff walked 5 Rockies, which is not good and will have to change in the future if the Bucs are to have any hope this year. Morton got the Win; he improves to 3-1.

Recap: Groundhog Day. BUCS LOSE.

Well, that went pretty much as expected. Paul Maholm struggled in the first couple innings, then went scoreless for the rest of his 7 innings. The offense obliged by not doing anything of note beyond a Cutch solo home run in the 1st. Paul Maholm is probably the Bucs worst starter right now, even though his numbers don't always show it. It seems like the team just deflates as soon as he gives up a few runs early. His only win is against the Nats. Meh.

But hey, Danny Moskos. Perfect inning in his first big league appearance. Glad he finally gets a chance, even if he is the reason we don't have Matt Wieters or Jason Heyward.
