Pirates 9, Brewers 8
I didn't get a chance to watch the end of this game as it ran rather long, but what I did see was the Buccos answering back every time the Brewers tried to mount a comeback and as a result they picked up their first win in the House of Horrors for the season. Alex Presley was the MVP, going 3 for 5 with 3 RBI, a double, and a solo home run. Xavier Paul also had a triple. Charlie Morton's stuff wasn't exactly Electric, but the offense carried the team in this one and he ended up with a no decision. Daniel McCutchen got the Win, while Joel Hanrahan picked up his 40th save of the year.

I Was Dreaming When I Wrote This. BUCS WIN.
Once upon a time there was a baseball team called the Pittsburgh Pirates. They were a good team, and their fans expected them to win every night. If they didn't win, their fans were bitterly disappointed. Over the course of 18 years since the team had last made the playoffs, however, the opinions of the fans gradually shifted to a negative view. Now the Pirates were expected to lose every night, and if they actually won, it was good, but not anything to get excited about. The fanbase had lost hope of ever seeing winning baseball again.
But then, in the 19th season, something amazing happened. The Pirates had suddenly found a strong pitching staff where none had been there for many years. They had a young, talented core of position players who, on any given night, could break out and score many runs. The defense, despite having a bumpy start to the season, was becoming rock solid. And despite a rash of injuries that would have sent previous teams spiraling out of control into losing oblivion, the Bucs were winning. Suddenly, there was a spark of hope for the fanbase. If not this year, then surely next year we will finally break the curse, they said. Only time will tell.
But for now, we'll just have to do what Prince told us to do.
Oh, and by the way, Andrew McCutchen extended his hitting streak to 14 games, Charlie Morton picked his 7th win, and Joel Hanrahan is a perfect 19 for 19 in save opportunities. The Bucs are a game over .500 and look for the sweep this afternoon. Let's Go Bucs.
