The Pirates keep on trucking against the Phillies, especially at home. They have now won 5 out of 7 games against them since last year. Jeff Karstens might be the best 5th starter in baseball, as he returned to his "Cy Karstens" form tonight. Still, Cole Hamels lived up to his billing, but the Phillies terrible offense kept the Bucs in the game and allowed them to snatch the victory in the bottom of the 12th. Karsten's start allowed less than 2 ERs, meaning the Pirates have accomplished that feat in 14 of their last 15 games. Simply a great win. Danny Moskos picked up the W, his first in the bigs.

VFPH's 3 Stars of the Game

  1. PIT Jose Tabata, LF: 1 for 5, 2 RBI
  2. PHI Cole Hamels, SP: 8.0 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 4 K
  3. PIT Jeff Karstens, SP: 7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
Play of the Game: Tabata's game-winning single in the 12th
