Yet another late rally falls short for the Pirates. On the plus side, home runs seem to be becoming more common for them. Garrett Jones and Ryan Doumit both had solo shots. It would be nice to see a homer with someone on base though. It hasn't happened for over a month (June 8). Pedro and Tabata both had 2-hit games, and they also had a double apiece. Newly acquired reliever Sean Gallagher was okay, striking out 1 but giving up 2 hits in 0.2 innings of work. Jeff Karstens went 5 IP, 5 H, 4 ER 6 BB, 5 K, and 2 HR. Not exactly great, but on a good team it might have gotten the job done. This is the Pirates, though.
