This game was basically a must-win game for the Pirates, and they didn't disappoint. They were down 1-0 after 1 when Kevin Correia hit an RBI single to tie the game at one. In the 5th, Cutch put the Bucs ahead for good with a double to the gap in left center, scoring Xavier Paul. Pedro hit a sharp grounder to first that almost slipped by Freddie Freeman, but scored what would turn out to be the winning run. The Braves came back within one after a Freeman double, a Dan Uggla "single" and Ronny Cedeno throwing error, but would be shut down the rest of the way. A huge double play was made by Pedro, scooping a sharply hit grounder for an around-the-horn play. Cutch sealed the deal for Joel Hanrahan in the top of the 9th by hitting a deep 2-run bomb to left center. Hammertime had 3 runs to work with; he didn't need a single one.

The Bucs take the split against the Wild Card leading Braves. While they really had a chance to take the W in all 4 games, not losing this series against a difficult foe is still big. Now they have some momentum heading into Philly, where they will face Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, and Vance Worley. Charlie Morton, James McDonald, and Jeff Karstens will go for the Bucs. The road trip from hell is halfway over. Let's Go Bucs.
